Sprouting at Home: Always Fresh, Always Local

Two Kinds of Sprouts photo by Rhiannon BerniceWinter in the northern hemisphere can be rough if, like me, you love to eat salad twice a day—sometimes even for breakfast. While there are lots of live salad-type greens for sale at my local co-op and other health-food stores, these aren’t at the top of my list of favorite things to buy this time of year. Since most are shipped in from warmer climates, they require a lot more energy to get from Mexico (or wherever) to me, and I just can’t get down with the idea of making a huge carbon footprint just to get my daily dose of vitamins and roughage. {readmorelink}Read on...{/readmorelink}
